This is my gross oversimplification of a history of comics diversity in the U.S. and Japan. I postulate while the Comics Code crippled many American genres back in 1954, in Japan manga was able to diversify and hit a peak with Shone Jump in 1995, although now the magazine industry is shrinking again. Your feedback is appreciated! This is for my Unusual Manga Genres panel.
